Small Trek In Tosh

Tosh is part of Parvati Valley and from our guesthouse window there was a glorious view: the Himalayan snow-capped peaks and the small stream flowing through the valley - beautiful. After a disappointingly dull World Cup Final and quite a few drams of whisky Guru revealed he had the perfect hang-over cure: that orange sugary - sweet drink - IRN BRU (courtesy of Stefan) - hallelujah!
Feeling resurrected after our Irn-Bru and on the arrival of Suhas I decided to put down "Into Thin Air", the book I had been reading obsessively since arriving in Tosh and actually go for a trek in my new Orange trekking shoes i picked up in Delhi. We set off with a bottle of water and some Indian sweets Suhas' mum had made.

The trek was an easy, pleasant walk. Some of the highlights along the way were some lazy turquoise butterflies resting on a rock, a large landslide that had apparently happened in the last few months. We also found some almost-ripe apples to munch on and drink-able spring water. We sat on a small grass-cliff and watched a waterfall and listened to the peaceful sound of the water. It started raining at the end of our trek and we headed back to the guest-house for some ginger-lemon-honey-mint tea, the best tea ever.

The following day we left Tosh, though not before a Baba found us sitting at the guest-house and was more than happy to let us hold his snakes: a small snake which I was quite happy to hold and a king cobra, obviously de-fanged, which I was more reluctant to hold, though Suhas bravely did, haha. The Baba then wanted 500Rs from us for this privilege, typical India, we gave him 50Rs.

We then got a bus to Kullu and on to Manali. This is a photo of us sitting taking in the view at Tosh before we left.
